The Egg & I Fine Arts & Crafts, LLC.

We carve emu, rhea, ostrich, goose, duck, and chicken eggs. None of the eggs you see in the slideshow above are painted; those are the eggs' natural colors. Emu eggs, for example, have three layers: a dark, blue-black outer layer, a teal second layer, and a white inner layer. We carve or acid-etch through the layers to produce three-color eggs. Among the emu eggs above are the panthers, cat, fish, and mouse.

Ostrich eggs are, relatively, very thick, and it is possible to create substantial depth by carving into the shell. Further, because of its strength, the ostrich egg lends itself to cut-through carving. The buffalo, basketweave, puzzle, and flower are ostrich eggs.

Goose eggs are thinner than either emu or ostrich, but beautiful and more-delicate cut-through designs can be achieved by carving goose eggs. The filigree eggs above are goose eggs.

We also enjoy working with beads. Our creations include off-loom weaving and unusual strung-bead designs. We use only the finest beading materials, resulting in beautiful, wearable art.
